The McCoys moved from the Midwest to New England in mid 1995, before Jon was born. Around the turn of the millenium, Jake and James started learning music as grade-school students; playing the drums and piano, respectively. Jon followed a few years later by learning the guitar. The three would go on to learn many secondary instruments over the years, and the house became a classic gathering spot for playing music in the neighborhood. This was solidified with the creation of The Basement in the late 2000's, and even more so with the St. Patrick's Day live-show parties of the 2010's.

In the early 2000's, Jake started playing in a kid rock band called Millstone with neighbors Dave and Dave. The group played their first show in the Frogwood Manor garage on Halloween night 2003, before the Daves' classmate, Keith, joined on bass. To be continued...
